A Boy From Down East by Larry B. Gray

The Good. The author delivered on his promise. He said his memoir would be a relaxing, enjoyable experience, and it was.

The Mmeh Okay. A Boy From Down East read as if it was written primarily for family, though…

…The Best Part was thoroughly enjoying the reminiscence. Teaching profound lessons in micro clips. One of the biggest kicks was the aphorisms. It was like (quote) 'the appropriate length for a woman's dress... "long enough to cover the subject, short enough to hold the interest."' The Country Store, The Rattlesnake and the Rabbit, Minnesott Beach, and The Pig were among my other favorites.

Looking back on the past as a way to enjoy the present and PLAN for the future, is a wise investment of time, and in this case, effort too. I did have to look up `merthiolate', today a `mercury free antiseptic'. Back in the day we called it mecuricome, which I learned something new. Every child's worst fear is apparently no longer sold!

Readers looking for an escape by way of a pleasant memoir, this is your book. Highly recommended.
